Social Worker – Cultural Assistance Team

Summary:

Provide educationally related social work services for students. Work with at-risk students, families, teachers, and administration to remove barriers to learning.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 
  • Complete routine reports and tasks promptly and efficiently.  Enforces confidentiality with use of release of information and other supportive documentation.  
  • Participates in student planning and program development based on SAT (Works with school level Student Assistance Teams).
  • Implements individual student programs based on SAT.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate.
  • Works productively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Demonstrates appropriate assessment techniques and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor as defined by the code of ethics of the education professional.
  • Participation in family nights.
  • Attend all required professional development activities.
  • Align work time  to goals and objectives of the district school improvement plan
  • Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines, and local, state and federal laws
  • Conduct an individualized social-emotional-adaptive assessment of the student, the student’s family, and the educational and social communities.  
  • Research, design, and implement building wide behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Employ appropriate methods of practice that enables students and their families to function adequately within their educational and community settings.
  • Utilize on-going appropriate methods to evaluate his/her services.
  • Prepare social or developmental histories for students.
  • Provide group and individual counseling with students and their families.
  • Work with those problems in student living situations (home, community, and school) that affect their adjustment in school.
  • Mobilize school and community resources to enable students to receive benefit.
  • Identify, inform, and update school personnel and parents of available resources.
  • Make referrals to appropriate agencies and follow up with those agencies.
  • Attend meetings as needed to discuss student need, evaluation data, and to plan for goals and objectives, if appropriate.
  • Obtain training in behavioral interventions, prevention curricula, and practices.
  • Accept other responsibilities and duties assigned by supervisor
  • Support district and school efforts to keep CCSD safe and secure
  • Complete and comply with all required trainings annually
  • Adhere to NM Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession (NMAC 6.60.9.8)
  • Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position

 


Minimum Qualifications:

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • NM PED License in Social Work (601 License)
  • Current NM Board of Social Work Examiners License

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 
  • Knowledge of Dine language, culture, and history preferred
  • Good communication skills and customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse populations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • The ability to work effectively with parents, students, and school personnel
  • Knowledge of effective intervention strategies and research-based practices 

 

Physical/Job Requirements:

 

Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.

 

Safety and Health:

 
  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
  • Completed and cleared background check
  • Pass drug test if required for position
  • Knowledge and compliance with district and school Safety Plans

 

Equipment/Material Handled:

 
  • Multimedia equipment, including current technology
  • Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities
  • Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary
