Summary:
|
Assist students to make positive choices about their futures and help them prepare educationally for those choices. Create the Master Class schedule. Review and maintain and counsel individual student’s records to ensure progress to meet graduation requirements
|
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
|
|
- Assist student to become pro-active relating to their educational needs.
- Review transcripts annually to ensure students are on-track for graduation.
- Review results of the NM High School Competency Exam and establish a plan for self study on any part not completed.
- Assist with applications to college, vocational schools, or employment.
- Maintain cumulative academic records.
- Assure semester grades are maintained as required.
- Maintain class rankings.
- Coordinate and manage all state required testing.
- Secure test materials while on school site.
- Meet with Exceptional Program students.
- Meet with parents, students, and/or teachers as needed.
- Coordinate Registration
- Collect and review student requests for courses.
- Create the Master Schedule and student schedules for the new school year.
- Review schedule change requests and make changes as needed.
- Balance class loads.
- Coordinate and distribute student schedules to parents and/or students in the fall.
- Collect updated student/parent demographic information.
- Review new student enrollment information and make recommendations for the IPT test for English Language.
- Recruit students for support groups. Counsel students as needed.
- Active membership on the school SAT team.
- Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local, state and federal laws.

- Accept other responsibilities and duties assigned by supervisor
- Support district and school efforts to keep CCSD safe and secure
- Complete and comply with all required trainings annually
- Adhere to NM Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession (NMAC 6.60.9.8)
- Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position

Minimum Qualifications:
|
|
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field
- NM PED Counselor license (600)
|
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
|
|
- Knowledge of Dine language, culture, and history preferred
- Good communication skills and customer service skills
- Training in substance abuse identification, mediation techniques, Master schedule building and Special Education (IDEA) & 504
|
Physical/Job Requirements:
|
|
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.
|
Safety and Health:
|
|
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
- Completed and cleared background check
- Pass drug test if required for position
- Knowledge and compliance with district and school Safety Plans

Equipment/Material Handled:

- Multimedia equipment, including current technology
- Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities
- Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary
